1978 drama to be screened at Nanango
THE Ringsfield Film Society monthly film screening will be held in Nanango on Sunday.
Nanango Historical Society president Roslyn Gregor, who manages Ringsfield House, said the society held the screenings in the restored Presbyterian Church, in the grounds of the old house.
"We were lucky enough to get a grant for a big screen and movie equipment,” Mrs Gregor said.
"We now hold a film there once a month, usually on the last Sunday of the month.”
Mrs Gregor said the society sourced its films from the National Film Archives.
"They select classics, of course,” she said.
"The next one we're going to show is Newsfront.
"We take bookings but people do turn up as well.”
Newsfront is a 1978 drama about newsreel cameramen who will do almost anything to get footage.
"We started the film screenings as something for local residents and elderly people to do on a Sunday afternoon,” Mrs Gregor said.
"It's been very popular and we serve Devonshire tea at half time.
"It's a lovely venue and the movies are classics and very enjoyable.”
Admission to the screening is $8 for adults and $2 for children. The admission price includes tea or coffee and a scone.
The film will begin at 2.30pm at 41-45 Alfred St, Nanango.
