4G reception coming to Boondooma and Durong
RESIDENTS and graziers out near Durong and Boondooma are set to be connected to the 4G network following the South Burnett Regional Council's approval for a new mobile phone tower.
The tower is set to be built to the south of the Boondooma homestead on a block Tesltra already owns.
Currently the only mobile phone reception available comes from a signal booster installed in the Durong General Store, though their booster only has a range of about 50m.
The new 4G tower will fill a black spot almost 100km wide.
Currently there's no other mobile reception along the Mundubbera Durong Road from Boynewood to the Durong Genreal Store.
The tower will be built in the next two years and follows the completion of new tower in Cooyar, which was part of the federal government's $100m Mobile Black Spot Program.
