57 CHARGES: Duo caught in Burnett after alleged crime spree

TWO men, who allegedly robbed an elderly and left her with head injuries, have been charged with 57 offences from across a three-week period.

One of the 19-year-old men was taken into police custody yesterday after allegedly escaping from the police and hiding underneath a house on Bell St, Cherbourg.

The other 19-year-old man allegedly rammed into a vehicle before driving away from the scene at Wondai.

He was also taken into custody at Cherbourg.

Detectives have found the pair to be allegedly responsible for a wide range of offences including robbery with violence, wilful damage of premises, fuel drive-offs, breaking into homes and businesses, theft of property, and unlawful use of motor vehicles.

The pair allegedly travelled in a group while committing these offences across central and southern Queensland.

On one occasion, one of the men allegedly robbed a 53-year-old woman of her handbag. This then caused her to fall down a set of stairs.

The elderly lady suffered bruising to the back of her head as a result.

In total, the pair was allegedly involved in more than 18 incidents, resulting in 57 charges between them.

Both men appeared in Murgon Magistrates Court yesterday.

They have remained in custody and are set to reappear in court next month.

Investigations are continuing, and more charges are expected to be laid.
