But it's not just those on diets looking for healthier food, with plenty of foodies in Rockhampton tired of greasy takeaways.
Mitch Crane, who runs the Rockhampton Food Rater Facebook page, said that most people are becoming more health conscious.
"Gone are the days of the fast food and greasy burger," Mitch said.
"Everyone is health conscious and a lot more educated about what they need to put in their body."
And health conscious foodies could be in luck with Raw Energy turning its sights on the Beef Capital.
The health food café franchise is targeting the region as it has plans to expand nationally.
RAW Energy's managing director Matt Hope said the growth of Rockhampton coupled with strong development in the food franchise sector indicated the positive success that a franchise owner could expect.
"One of our key differentiators is our ability to offer high quality healthy food options at affordable prices in convenient, accessible locations across the country; we now want to extend that offering to Rockhampton," Mr Hope said.
Meanwhile, Mitch, a foodie himself, said that any new health business coming to the region would be welcomed, as most people are on the hunt for different options.
"There's not a huge amount of healthy options after 5pm; there's restaurants that offer salads and low carb meals, but there's not as many health takeaway options," Mitch said.
