A delicious way you can show support to flood victims

NANANGO RSL are doing what they know best to help northern Queensland residents who are affected by the floods.

RSL manager Sheena Lindholm said they would be holding two fundraising dinners to support the recovery efforts in Townsville.

"It all started in a conversation in our office about how devastating the floods were up north, and it grew to how can we help?" she said.

"We've been through our own disasters, so it's a cause we can help out."

Funds from the nights will go to the Townsville RSL and BlazeAid.

"We are doing what we have done before and put on a meal deal to raise a serious amount of money," Ms Lindholm said.

Nanango RSL will hold a fundraising night on Wednesday, February 20, to assist the Townsville RSL, which was affected by the North Queensland flood disaster.

"It's a way we can help out our sister business out there rise up from recovery," she said.

The Townsville RSL has asked for funds for small things such as the boxes the gaming machines sit on, which were damaged during the floods.

"We can't imagine what sort of loss it would be," Ms Lindholm said.

For every meal deal purchased on Wednesday night, $10 will be donated to the Townsville RSL to help them get back on their feet.

The Townsville RSL Fundraiser meal deal consists of an old-fashioned crumbed steak, vegetables and drink for $25 per person.

The Nanango RSL will also be holding a fundraiser on Saturday, February 23, to support BlazeAid's clean-up efforts in Townsville after the floods.

"It was important for us to find one at the root of the hardship, right there next to the farmers who've experienced tragedy," Ms Lindhom said.

"I can't think of a better cause to support."

The RSL will donate $15 from every $35 meal deal, which will include a chicken meal, banana dessert and a cocktail.

"The banana is a bit of a tribute to those up north," she said.

The RSL will also welcome any additional donations towards supporting the flood victims.
