Adventurous koala a surprise house guest in Kingaroy

A HAIRY young man woke up on a stranger's balcony this morning.

Sunshine Coast Koala Rescue was called to Alice St in Kingaroy to help relocate a koala.

Rescue officer Neale Ambler said it would have been a shock for the residents when they woke up and saw their unusual house guest.

"They woke up to a crazy visitor," he said.

"He was on the veranda pole next to the water tank."

Mr Ambler said the young adult looked to be healthy, just lost.

"This young fella looks rather well to me," he said.

"He was a bit grumpy when I picked him up and put him in the car.

"But he's having a snooze now."

"It's a known koala corridor area; I've been picking them up there for a while."

Mr Ambler said he would take the animal to the vet for a check up before deciding if it could be relocated or needed treatment.

"They have about 20 different types of problems that are common."

"I'll take him to the vet and see if he requires (treatment)."
