UPDATE: Six crews contain fire, traffic still blocked
UPDATE: At 5.44pm a spokesman from QFES said the six crews were still on scene.
They contained the fire just after 4.30pm and were still putting out hot spots along the road.
A spokesman from QPS said police were on the scene to control traffic.
He said they had asked the SES to attend the site to relive the officers.
Drivers were advised to follow the road directions made by the traffic controllers.
4.44pm: Six crews are currently responding to a vegetation fire at Kingaroy.
A spokeswoman from QFES said the fire had been contained and no more crews were required.
At 4.44pm they were working towards making the area safe and had one lane of traffic open to the public.
She said the police were on scene and there was no danger to any infrastructure.
4pm: THE Queensland Rural Fire Service is fighting a fire on the northern side of River Rd, Kingaroy which is blocking traffic in both directions.
A spokeswoman from QFES said they were called at 4pm about a grass fire.
Two crews are currently on scene, and two more are on the way.
The spokeswoman said the fire was moving slowly at this stage and crews were working on putting out the flames.
Smoke may affect residents and motorists in the area.
Residents should close their doors and windows and keep medication close by if suffering from a respiratory condition.
The spokeswoman said motorists should use caution and drive to conditions.
