Burnett road toll set to overtake last year's
THIS year's Burnett road toll has matched last year's fatality toll in less than five months.
The most recent crash, a fiery head-on collision outside of Kumbia on Monday night, claimed the lives of a Eli Waters mother Charmaine McLeod and her four children under the age of six.
A dozen lives have been lost on roads across the South Burnett and North Burnett in 2019 so far.
A 40-year-old South Toowoomba man died after his ute hit a tree in Boondooma on January 14.
There was then 11 people who lost their lives on Burnett roads during May alone.
Across the North Coast and Wide Bay-Burnett region there has been 19 fatalities this year from January 1 to May 26. This does not include the five fatalities in Kumbia on May 27.
In 2018, 20 people were killed on roads in the North Coast and Wide Bay-Burnett region for the same time period.
Last year, 12 people lost their lives on Burnett roads across the whole 12 months.
