Business serves up range of alcohol-infused Kingaroy peanuts
A QUEENSLAND business is making the most of Kingaroy's iconic peanuts, and is serving up unique new flavour sensations for its customers.
Wicked Nuts, based in Dayboro, northwest of Brisbane, has been roasting nuts for years, and the team believes its new alcohol-infused peanuts will be a crowd favourite.
Company director Ingo Schomacker said the South Burnett's proximity to Wicked Nuts' operations made Kingaroy the first choice to source its peanuts from.
"We are from Queensland, so there was no discussion that we use any imported peanuts whatsoever,” Mr Schomacker said.
"We've been using peanuts from Kingaroy for five or six years now and the quality is unbeatable.”
The family-operated business has been selling the alcohol-infused peanuts at festivals and events for a number of years, but only introduced them to the retail market just six months ago.
"We played around with different flavours and then actually a customer mentioned to us, 'Why don't you make peanuts with beer?' a few years back,” Mr Schomacker said.
They researched what the customers wanted and began to sell the alcohol-infused nuts throughout Queensland.
The current range features five flavours: Smokey Bundy Rum, Pina Colada, Whiskey Maple Bacon, Chocolate Stout, and Tequila, Chilli and Lime.
Mr Schomacker said his favourite was the Whiskey Maple Bacon, hands down, followed by the Tequila, Chilli and Lime.
He said the Bundy Rum flavour had also been quite popular with Queensland customers.
