A popular Kingaroy cafe is up for sale
AFTER several years in business, Utopia Cafe owner Wayne Evans has decided it's time to move on.
Famous for its outstanding coffee and a popular spot for brunch goers on Saturday mornings, Utopia has become a much-loved sanctuary in the 20 years it has operated.
Initially a police officer in Kingaroy, Mr Evans fell in love with Utopia during his daily visits.
"It's the vibe and feeling you get there, it just seems to have a positive karma about it," Mr Evans said.
"The building itself had a warmth to it that drew us in and it seemed doable at the time.
"It was the perfect size and you get to meet a lot of interesting people too, it was a good opportunity to get to know people in the town."
Mr Evans said his recent move from the region and a shuffle around in staff had led to the decision.
Although he was still in negotiations with potential buyers, he wanted to reassure patrons it wouldn't close.
"Even if we don't find a new owner in a hurry, I would continue operating the café. It would be a very drastic call to close the shop and rip it up," he said.
"I don't want to see it close and I don't think it should because it's been there for a long time and it would be a shame."
