Celebrating Australia at gallery opening

CHERBOURG artist Niketa Law has her first exhibition opening at Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery Thursday November 1 at 6pm; alongside fellow artist Marilyn Leitch.

There is also an opportunity to meet Niketa Law at another opening event on Saturday November 3, kicking off at 11am.

Ms Law celebrates her Indigenous Australian culture and her ancestors history through her exhibition Yungi - First Collection.

She is a self-taught Traditional Contemporary Aboriginal Artist and a proud Bindal/Bigambul woman.

"Traditional stories guide my work, and as a contemporary traditional aboriginal artist I am influenced by the past and the present,” Ms Law said.

"Every piece I have produced has a unique story.”

There will be a story line for each painting included in the gallery's exhibition.

"My technique is derived from my knowledge of common Aboriginal Artworks and stories witnessed in my earlier years,” Ms Law said.

"My paintings are a spiritual representation of my own story telling built on feelings, values, circumstances and that of stories that have been passed down over the years.”

Gallery two has been filled with artist Marilyn Leitch's exhibition Celebrating Australia.

Her exhibition explores her love for Australian nature, birds, wildlife, domesticated animals, and landscapes.

She has tried to bring her subjects to life through her art.

"So everyone can enjoy the beauty that surrounds us in our amazing country and my home Australia,” Ms Leitch said.

The opening night is Thursday November 1 at 6pm.

Otherwise the gallery is open 10am to 4pm Monday through Friday, and 11am to 1pm Saturday and Sunday.
