Changes for annual golfing event
GOLF: Kingaroy Golf Club members are preparing for their biggest week of the year, the annual peanut harvest week of golf.
The week will begin with the veterans 36 hole 4BBB stroke with separate competitions for men and women across Monday, March 19 and Tuesday, March 20.
For the veterans game the minimum age for men is 55 years old and the maximum handicap for men is 36.
For women, the minimum age for the veterans game is 50 years old and the maximum handicap for women is 45.
Handicap is static for the two day event.
There will be a gross and nett trophy for the two day event in addition to a nett trophy daily.
The trophies will be awarded at the presentation dinner on Tuesday, March 20 at 7pm
Nominations are now open for the veterans game and will close on March 12 or when the time sheet is full.
Nominations are compulsory for Monday and Tuesday and players are to nominate for the remaining events on arrival to the club during harvest week.
For the first year there will be a rest day on Wednesday, March 21, and men are welcome to join the Kingaroy Sporters.
The men and women will play a classic stroke with A, B and C-grades for men and women on Thursday March 22,
The week will continue with a 4BBB Stableford for men and women on Friday.
On the final day of harvest week players will take to the course for a mixed 4BBB Stableford and a men's single stableford.
Before the week starts players are invited to play in the South Burnett Radiology Day, on Sunday March 18.
It will be a a two person ambrose, for men and women.
Players can phone the club on 41621720 to nominate for the South Burnett radiology day when nominations open on March 4.
In another break from tradition, the men's and women's graded Stroke will be a draw for playing groups, and a shot gun start at 9:30am with time sheets in the club house on arrival.
