EQUIPPED with a trendy fashion sense, a contagious smile and a strong set of guns, Anneliese Nuemann is the new fit chick on the block.

Upon moving to Hervey Bay in April, the Down syndrome athlete has become addicted to fitness.

The newly found passion helped her drop from a size 16 to a size 10 in clothes.

In pants, she is now an extra small.

That equalled to a weight loss of 12kg in just six months for the short-statured woman.

At age 42, Anneliese said she was now in her best shape ever.

"I just feel amazing," she said.

Her caretaker Tracey Lowe took Anneliese to Anytime Fitness shortly after her arrival.

"She just loved it from then," Tracey said.

"Then, we found Endeavour Foundation classes and Anneliese joined them, and from then she continued to join more things.

"We'll be driving home, and she's looking at her arm muscles."

Anneliese Nuemann has discovered a passion in fitness, and has lost 12kg to now weigh 55kg.

With a rigorous weekly fitness schedule, Anneliese has even tried some belly dancing.

She particularly likes the tabata and assault classes at the gym, as well as personal training.

But when asked what her overall favourite exercises to do were, she was quick to answer.

"I like lifting all the heavy stuff," she said.

"I want to build muscle.

"I like going on all the equipment at the gym, like the spin bike."

In order to achieve the transformation, there was also a change in diet.

Anneliese loves mixing yoghurt with muesli for breakfast.

Tonight for dinner, she has a curry stirfry on the menu.

"Healthy eating is very important," she said.

"I'm going to keep going and keep getting fit."

Even when Annaliese is having down time, fitness is on her mind as she loves shopping for cute gear.

"I like all brands - anything that looks good," she said.

She also sneaks in a 55 minute daily session in the sun as she has a vitamin D deficiency.

In her previous home of Canberra, Annaliese worked at a Woolworths for 19 years and she is currently looking for employment on the Fraser Coast.
