Community support strong for Kingaroy Big W

KINGAROY Big W is well supported and is committed to the Kingaroy community.

Kingaroy Shopping World manager Karen Dennis said the Big W performed well in Kingaroy and said the Big W would continue to trade.

"They are not closing and will continue to support our community and they have contractual lease obligations,” she said.

Ms Dennis said the closure of Payless Shoes had no bearing on the Kingaroy economy as it all stores in the chain were closing nation wide.

She said the shopping centre would have a new store to replace the Payless Shoes space in the new year.

For the time being, Kingaroy Shoppingworld has no empty shops and two new tenants will be coming in next year,” she said.

"New retailers are coming in, it's just part of what shopping centres are, the dynamics of the centre are constantly changing.”

Ms Dennis said the Shoppingworld was going into another strong trading period over Christmas.

"It's out busiest time, come out shopping and shop local, the more we shop local the more money stays in the town,” Ms Dennis said.

The Shoppingworld will be closed for Christmas and Boxing Day and reopen for optional trading on December 27.

The major retailers will be open on December 27 but individual stores can chose to be open.

This weekend Kingaroy Shoppingworld is open Saturday and Sunday from 9am-4pm and 9am-7pm Monday to Thursday, then open until midnight on December 23, with normal trading hours on Christmas Eve.
