Council grant funding opens soon
SOUTH Burnett not-for-profit organisations looking for extra funding are in luck.
Round one of council's 2019 community grants program will open on Friday, February 1.
If you represent a not-for-profit organisation delivering local projects and activities you may be eligible to apply.
Council's community development and grants officer, Kimberley Donohue encouraged community organisations to contact her for assistance with the application process.
"I can assist with what grant will be most suitable for them,” she said.
The previous program, which closed on August 31, 2018 received 54 applications with a total ask of $105,117.31.
"The event or project has to directly assist the South Burnett region,” Ms Donohue said.
The categories available under the program are:
- Community events sponsorship;
- Community hall insurance grant;
- Councillor discretionary fund;
- Elite performance youth grant;
- Healthy communities sponsorship;
- In-kind sponsorship;
- Project/program one-off sponsorship;
- Regional arts development fund; and
- School student awards
The in-kind sponsorship, elite performance youth grant and councillor discretionary funds are currently open and stay open year round, however all other programs open in August and February of each year.
This round of the community grants program closes on Thursday, February 28.
As this program is a shift in the way funding to the community has been provided, council encourages organisations to contact council to discuss their projects.
