Country music fan's run of good luck

2019 HAS been a very lucky year for country music fan, Carmel Kilpatrick.

The Nanango retiree was one of the July winners in the South Burnett Times Troy Cassar-Daley photo competition.

The country music fan was chuffed when she received her prize pack which included a double pass to see the multiple Golden Guitar winner.

"It was the best show I have seen him put on,” she said.

"The crowd was really interactive.”

Not one to rest on her success, Ms Kilpatrick put her country hat back in the ring when we announced the competition to win one of five double passes to see another Australian country music icon, Lee Kernaghan.

No one was more surprised than her when it was announced she had once again come up trumps.

"It was the first thing I have ever won,” she said

"Besides a chook raffle here or there.”

Ms Kilpatrick has been a country music fan as long as she can remember.

"We follow the scene as much as we can,” she said.

Some of the stand out performances she has enjoyed include Brooks and Dunn and the Dixie Chicks.

The retired registered nurse enjoyed an extensive career at Orana Retirement Living and Aged care in Kingaroy, but she knew when it was time to call it a day.

"I was ready to retire,” she said.

"You get to a point where you know.”

"When you get older its not as easy to cope with the demands.”

The country music lover now spends her time with her husband travelling to music festivals and enjoying her restful years.

"I thoroughly enjoy my life,” she said.

The country music fan confirmed she had seen the majority of Australian artists live in concert.

"We've seen most of the Aussies,” Ms Kilpatrick said.

"Becky Cole is always good.

"The Troy Cassar-Daley show was just fabulous.”

But there was one artist who had so far eluded the country fan and she wasn't sure she would get a chance to ever see them.

"Garth Brooks, he is definitely on my bucket list,” Ms Kilpatrick said.

"There was talk of him coming to Australia a few years back.”

Below are the five winning photos of the Lee Kernaghan 'most country person' in the South Burnett.

The winners will each receive a double pass to see Lee Kernaghan live when he comes to Kingaroy Town Hall on Thursday September 5.
