Couple behind now-famous outback wedding photos

A WEDDING set in a dusty red scene of the outback has taken social media by storm.

Territorians Tara Fulwood and Jason Craigie married on Saturday at Loves Creek Station, 90km out of Alice Springs.

The pair met at the Katherine rodeo four years ago. Jason was a bull rider and fighter.

"When I used to go to the rodeo, I was a bit more of a social butterfly," Tara joked.

"So I didn't actually see Jason ride but it was at the pub afterwards - he caught my eye when he walked through the door and we've been inseparable since."

When the happy couple announced their engagement, family and friends went into planning mode.

The couple were talking to a friend, Les McLaughlin, about their ideas for the wedding.

"It's really majestic country out here. We wanted a setting with a red cliff face and sandy creeks," Tara said.

"Les said straight away he knew the perfect spot for us."

Loves Creek Station is owned by another friend of Tara and Jason.

"We went out there for a look and Jason turned into a little kid. He was running around making plans for what was going where," Tara joked. "It just felt right straight away.

"Our guests came from everywhere and quite a few were not used to being so remote."

The wedding location was out of phone reception, so it wasn't for a few days the couple realised their photos had been shared hundreds of times on Facebook.

"I said to my sister, 'I love these photos - we look great and I'm happy,' " she said.

"But we couldn't work out why they had been shared so many times.

"We've come to the conclusion that not many people follow through with their dreams. Every girl has a vision of what they want their wedding to look like, a dream destination, and we did whatever we could to make it happen."

Tara said taking equipment to the location was a "logistical nightmare".

"We carted stuff for days," she said.

"At one moment I got a bit weak, so lucky I have an incredible husband who helped push me through.

"I feel like the luckiest girl in the world - all our friends and family really helped make it happen for us.

"Being in a rural area, there wasn't much you could do in the lead up - there's cattle and horses and all kinds of animals out there."

Jason and Tara would also like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land and thank Damien Ryder for his welcome to country at the beginning of the ceremony.
