Cutting down trees makes road safer

THE trees along River Rd in Kingaroy have recently been assessed for safety, and several were removed.

South Burnett Regional Council has undertaken an assessment of the trees with Ergon Energy, following several power outages due to branches falling along the road this year.

As a result Ergon Energy has pruned several tree limbs along the road.

Seven trees, which posed a risk, were marked along the road, and have recently been removed by council workers.

The council and Ergon Energy will continue their inspections and maintenance of street trees across the South Burnett.

Council will continue to work closely with Ergon Energy and undertake any further removals, if the trees pose a risk.
