Cyclone to bring heavy rainfall to South Burnett
TROPICAL Cyclone Oma will bring heavy rainfall to the South Burnett this weekend.
"The system is expected to track towards the southeast Queensland coast and it translates to good rainfall on the way as a direct result,” Weatherzone meteorologist Jacob Cronje said.
"Current modelling shows it will be off the coast of Hervey Bay and that will be felt in the form of southeasterly winds and potentially heavy falls of rain from Sunday.”
It is expected the region will receive 20 millimetres on Saturday and up to 40mm on Sunday.
The rain will continue into next week with up to 40mm forecast for Monday, but it is all dependant on where the cyclone tracks.
"After Tuesday we could see a continuation of the rainfall through to all of next week,” Mr Cronje said.
Cooler days are also expected with tops of 28°C, 25°C and 24°C forecast for Saturday, Sunday and Monday respectively.
Mr Cronje said if the cyclone makes land it will bring more rainfall inland.
