Dead body washes up on beach
Mystery still surrounds the circumstances of how a body was found on The Strand this morning.
Emergency services are currently on scene after the body reportedly washed up at the popular beach opposite St Patrick's College.
At a time when the area is usually buzzing with school drop offs and people exercising, this morning it was bleak and eerily quiet.
The Queensland Ambulance Service got a call just after 6.30am, with initial reports suggesting the body is male.
With three ambulance vehicles and four police cars present, emergency services personnel huddled on the beach as they attempted to piece together what had happened.
The body was reported to be of a blue and grey complexion with blood coming from the ears at the time it was found.
Police were scouring the sand and the edge of the water for clues to assist them in the mysterious case.
Police located multiple packets of prescription pill packets in the area the body was found and took them away in clear clip seal bags.
It's unclear at this stage how long the body had been on the beach.
The few people walking their dog or going for a run at the time all stopped to take a look at the unfolding scene.
Emergency services remain at The Strand as police continue their investigations.
