Dishing up support for drought-stricken farmers
MULANAH Gardens donated $2850 to Graham House to support drought relief in the South Burnett.
This morning, Rhonda Kath from Mulanah Gardens donated the sum to Linda O'Hare from the Graham House Community Centre.
Mrs Kath informs the money was gathered from a charity auction at their 'Dinner Under the Stars' event.
"The money came from the auction, and we also gave $10 from every ticket ourselves, which came out of our own pockets,” she said.
Pleased with the result, Mrs Kath wants to hold similar events in the future.
"We've always said if it went well, we would do it again. Whether it was themed as an auction or charity, we don't know at this stage,” she said.
"Everyone had a great time, and it was really good, so we're definitely doing it again next year.”
Mrs Kath believes there were some key details that made it such a memorable evening.
"The whole setting was amazing. There were hours and hours of prep work put in. I hope the guests could see the effort we went to in making it as pretty as possible,” she said.
"The band played really well, too. It made for a fantastic environment. We had them play at a stage a bit further away from the seated areas, which meant the sound wasn't on top of us. It was perfect, and it got everyone jiving, too.
Mrs Kath is very thankful for the extra help they had to make the evening perfect.
"The Rotary Club were very helpful behind the bar. It was a lovely community effort. They've also suggested to me that if we have any more weddings or events to contact them in the future,” she said.
