Don't be thieves' next target

COMPLAINTS of break and enters, and theft on rural properties, are becoming a regular occurrence for Blackbutt Police.

Sergeant Andrew McDowell is encouraging all residents to be vigilant.

"Fuel and items of value are being stored in the open or within quick and easy access for opportunistic offenders, who then use the fuel to commit further crimes or on-sell the stolen property,” he said.

"I urge everyone, be it in a rural or residential setting, to lock up valuables and consider investing in CCTV for their belongings, as an added security measure.”
