Drivers get an 'offal' surprise on D'Aguilar Highway

DRIVERS travelling along the D'Aguilar Highway early this morning got an 'offal' surprise outside Kilcoy.

A truck full of offal spilled onto the highway about 2km west of Kilcoy.

The tripe cargo stretched for 6km along the road used as a common route between the South Burnett and Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the traffic hazard was called in just before 1.30am.

"The back tail-gate of a truck popped open and it's gone all over the road," he said.

QPS media tweeted about the spill to warn drivers to avoid the area.

"Giblets the area a miss as authorities tripe to clean it up," they said.

Somerset Regional Council workers were on scene early in the morning cleaning up the spill, and police were on scene until 10am.

The speed limit was reduced to 60km/h while the spill was cleaned up.
