DRUG BUST: 15 South Burnett residents charged in operation

POLICE have charged 15 South Burnett residents for a total of 29 drug-related offences as part of an ongoing drug enforcement operation, Operation Romeo Monument.

In a joint operation between the Murgon Criminal Investigation Branch and the Burnett Tactical Action Team 17 search warrants were executed across Murgon, Cherbourg, Proston, Coverty, Ballogie and Mermerambi and surrounding areas between August 19, and August 21.

The charges include drug production, drug possession, including 474 grams of cannabis, possession of drug utensils and syringes and possession of explosives.

Detective Inspector Mat Kelly said these types of operations were random in nature.

"These operations, supported by local intelligence and valuable information from across the community, will continue to be executed across the South West District," he said.

"By disrupting criminal behaviour in this way, we aim to deter future offending and reduce harm to rural communities."

The offenders will appear in Murgon Magistrate Court on the following charges:

A 27-year-old Murgon man will appear charged with possession of dangerous drugs and drug utensils.

A 47-year-old Murgon man will appear charged with possession of dangerous drugs and drug utensils.

A 24-year-old Cherbourg man will appear charged with possession of drug utensils.

A 18-year-old Cherbourg woman will appear charged with possession of drug utensils.

A 22-year-old Cherbourg woman will appear charged with possession of dangerous drugs and drug utensils.

A 20-year-old Cherbourg woman will appear charged with possession of dangerous drugs, possessing of drug utensil and possession of things used.

A 30-year-old Cherbourg woman will appear charged with possession of dangerous drugs and drug utensils.

A 21-year-old Cherbourg woman will appear charged with possession of drug utensils and possession of restricted liquor.

A 23-year-old Cherbourg man will appear charged with possession of dangerous drugs and fail to dispose (syringe).

A 19-year-old Cherbourg man will appear charged with possession of drug utensils.

A 59-year-old Proston man will appear charged with possession of drug utensils.

A 18-year-old Proston man will appear charged with possession of dangerous drugs and drug utensils.

A 51-year-old Coverty man will appear charged with producing dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs and drug utensils.

A 57-year-old Ballogie man will appear charged with producing dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs and drug utensils.

A 36-year-old Memarambi man will appear charged with possession of dangerous drugs and drug utensils.
