Drug misuse to be addressed in South Burnett

ALCOHOL and drug misuse throughout the South Burnett will be targeted in a Local Drug Action Plan.

South Burnett Regional Council has been successful in obtaining $10,000 in funding to develop a Local Drug Action Plan in partnership with other key organisations.

Local Drug Action Team chair Cr Danita Potter said the council had been successful in their application to acquire funding to develop the Local Drug Action Plan.

"Our region, as with other regional areas, has alcohol and other drug misuse which has a negative impact on many within our community,” she said.

Cr Potter said the plan would target the specific drug issues in the South Burnett.

"The specific drug issues faced by the region, including but not limited to Crystal methamphetamine (ice) for example,” she said.

"The Local Dug Action Team will take a united approach working together to provide solutions for the benefit of the community.”
