Family affair for World's Greatest Shave
THE whole Hartwig family is shaving and colouring their hair in support of the World's Greatest Shave next month.
Father David said cancer had affected many members of their family, which was why wife Lee-Anne, son Logan and daughter Emily had banded together.
"There's so much of it around at the moment," David said.
"We thought we'd like to do what we can to raise a bit of money and awareness."
David and Lee-Anne said they were proud their children had come on board to help.
"It's good for them to have a sense of wanting to help people ... even if it is something little," Lee-Anne said.
The family's participation started with David growing a beard last year.
Once he decided to shave both the beard and hair for the Leukaemia Foundation fundrasier, the family quickly jumped on board.
David, Lee-Anne and Logan will shave their heads, while Emily will colour her hair.
"I think I should (participate) because lots of people are suffering from cancer, it's affected our family a lot and I want to find a cure," Logan said.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the World's Greatest Shave, which raises money for blood cancer research and support services for families.
The shave is held across Australia from March 14-18
