Family row left hinterland man dead

POLICE have confirmed that a physical altercation at a home in Conondale, which left a 42-year-old man dead, involved family members.

The incident happened in Appaloosa Dr about 7.45pm on Sunday.

Sunshine Coast District Crime Group Detective Inspector Dave Drinnen said a 15-year-old boy was among the people assisting police with their inquiries.

"It was an incident that did involve family members, and we'll follow through with our investigation," he said.

"We've undertaken a number of interviews and also obtained a number of statements about the circumstances surrounding the event that led up to the death."

Det Insp Drinnen said a post mortem was undertaken yesterday and police were awaiting preliminary findings.

"However, we would expect we will have to wait for toxicology reports before we get any final outcome of the cause of death," he said.

No one has been charged over the man's death.

"If we find there is no evidence to suggest anyone has acted unlawfully, the matter will be put before the coroner," Det Insp Drinnan told the media.

"Then he will make necessary findings and recommendations."
