Five things to do in the South Burnett this weekend
1. Burrandowan Races
THE Burrandowan Picnic Races have become an annual tradition for country racing fans.
The first race will start at 1.30pm and the first fashions on the field parade will be at 3pm.
Burrandowan is proud of its reputation as a traditional country race with no mobile reception and trading as cash only.
2. Maidenwell Country Muster
Saturday and Sunday
MUSIC fans will be in Maidenwell this weekend for the first Maidenwell Country Muster.
The weekend-long event will be a celebration of music and good food, finishing with an old-time dance from 1pm on Sunday afternoon.
The crowd will be entertained by country music stars such as Beccy Cole and Libby O'Donovan from noon on Saturday at the sports ground.
3. 47th Battalion
SOUTH Burnett's up-and-coming rugby league stars will host rivals from Fraser Coast and Bundaberg for the junior 47th Battalion.
From 9am in Murgon, players will vie for selection in the Wide Bay Bulls representative side.
4. Burnett bird sale
THE Burnett Bird Keepers Association will host its fifth annual sale at the Nanango Showgrounds, opening from 9am to 1pm.
5. Mother's Day Classic
FOR a third year, the running community will celebrate Mother's Day while raising funds for breast cancer research.
The Mother's Day Classic will celebrate and honour those touched by breast cancer.
The Wondai event will offer a 4km run, 4km walk and 8km run on the South Burnett rail trail, starting from 8am.
