Go-kart driver cops large fine
A WOMAN has gone joyriding through the streets of Kingaroy in an unregistered go-kart.
Caroline Hinds, 17, faced the Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Monday on three charges in relation to riding the go-kart on the streets, putting her own safety and that of others at risk.
Senior Constable Kym Scott said police received a number of calls from residents of Youngman St on the evening of January 16.
"Police attended the location and located the defendant in a go-kart," Snr Const Scott said.
The kart was not registered and further checks revealed Hinds did not have a driver's licence.
Police were concerned about the safety as it was dusk and the road was wet from recent rain.
"She showed blatant disregard for her safety and that of road users," she said.
Hinds pleaded guilty to the charges and was fined $750 and disqualified from obtaining a licence for three months.
