Have your say on two massive South Burnett developments

PUBLIC submissions are open for two proposed developments in the South Burnett moving through the State Government approvals process.

Moreton Resources, which has proposed an open cut coal mine about 4km outside of Kingaroy, has lodged an application for a mining licence.

The Co-ordinator-General has released the draft terms of reference for an environmental impact statement on the project, and is asking for comments until November 14.

Energy company AGL has prepared the environmental impact statement for its Coopers Gap Wind Farm project, which is also open for comment.

The Cooranga North project could include up to 100 turbines, producing about 1100 GWh of renewable energy.

Community members can make submissions to the EIS by November 7.

As the project moves through the approvals process, the State Government has released a report outlining how it could reach the 50% renewable energy target by 2030.

They are also available at libraries across the South Burnett.
