Hollywood star weighs in on BaconFest

A HOLLYWOOD heavyweight gave South Burnett radio announcers a tasty scoop this morning.

Kevin Bacon was interviewed on hit89.1 South Burnett, on the day Kingaroy's inaugural BaconFest started.

Hamish Carter and Paris Humphrey from hit89.1 South Burnett are still buzzing after their interview with one of Hollywood's biggest stars.

In the lead up to BaconFest, the breakfast announcers set up a challenge to attempt to secure an interview with Bacon.

The innovative radio pair gave themselves six attempts to get in contact with the Footloose star and Humphrey said by the fifth phone call it wasn't looking good.

"We were really not confident at all,” she said.

It wasn't until the realisation that Kevin Bacon and his brother Michael play in a band called The Bacon Brothers that the announcers had their light bulb moment.

"We were able to contact the band's booking agent and he organised the interview,” Carter said.

Given they were coming to their final phone call, Carter and Humphrey had started to think about a Plan B.

"We thought we might just get someone else called Kevin Bacon and get around it that way,” Carter said.

But luckily their challenge was a success and they enjoyed a great chat with Kevin Bacon and his brother Michael, even mentioning BaconFest.

"We told Kevin about BaconFest and he just laughed about it,” Carter said.
