Hotel swaps gaming for craft brew and 'real pub atmosphere'

NEW Kingaroy Club Hotel owners have chosen to go without any form of gambling in their pub and they are over the moon about it.

Jason and Sue Kinsella who run the popular Moffatdale Ridge Winery have added the title of publican to their resume.

Mr Kinsella said the Club Hotel would stand out from most other pubs throughout the country and they were proud to be able to offer locals an opportunity to enjoy a real pub atmosphere.

"We have no gaming whatsoever," he said.

"Gone are the poker machines, TAB and Keno.

"We want to go back to the days where people just came in for a drink and a chat with their mates."

The venue, which in 1909 played host to the Prime Minister of the day, Andrew Fisher, is now open and has some new features which go hand in hand with the new gambling-free direction.

The bar, named The Craft Bar, only serves quality beer and cider from 100 per cent independent Australian brewers, and where possible, spirits from Australian distillers.

"Our taps will continually be changing to reflect the season and the latest brews being made by some of the finest craft brewers in Australia," Mr Kinsella said.

The hotel also includes a wine shop which stocks the largest selection of wine in the South Burnett region.

"We have over 600 different labels to choose from," he said.

Mr Kinsella said, in line with the withdrawal of gambling, there would be an indoor beer garden for patrons to enjoy and relax with their mates.

"We are bringing back to the customers, a casual and pleasant venue you can go to have a real conversation or a catch-up, with no gaming noise in the background," he said.
