Lisa Curry’s unexpected Twitter feud
DON'T mess with Lisa Curry.
It's a lesson learnt this week after the 56-year-old former Olympian discovered a story written three weeks ago that made mention of her marriage to that Elvis impersonator.
The reference was completely complimentary. In the story, I merely sympathised with Lisa because, earlier in the week, I had gone on a date with a guy who plays Mick Jagger in a Rolling Stones cover band and felt incredibly guilty for all the judgement I once threw at the former Olympian for dating an Elvis impersonator. So a public apology was issued for the aforementioned shade that was thrown.
This story left her irritated. But it was a secondary mention of her relationship in this week's recap of the Barnaby and Vikki Sunday Night interview that propelled her to launch, what I hope to be, an ongoing Twitter feud.
Admittedly, a second reference probably wasn't necessary. I truthfully am a fan of hers but the damage has been done.
"Their relationship is confusing," I had written about Barnaby and Vikki, "like the Edelstens or Lisa Curry's marriage to that Elvis impersonator."
It was that sentence that prompted Lisa to slide into my Twitter DMs from her home on the Sunshine Coast. Mostly, she was perturbed her relationship was mentioned "in the same sentence as the Edelstens". And to be honest, that's probably a little harsh on her end. Geoffrey Edelsten and his girlfriends seem very lovely.
Firing a second shot across my timeline, she set the challenge to attend one of Elvis's shows in Melbourne next month. While that seems like a hoot, unfortunately his gig is on the same night as Mick Jagger's show at a Central Coast RSL. Indeed, the Mick romance continues. I feel like Goldie Hawn in The Banger Sisters.
So, will this Twitter feud continue? Who knows. Like Sonia Kruger did to Tracey Jewel, Lisa's message was left on "read".
