Jump on board to establish a Kingaroy Neighbourhood Watch

ARE you are a community orientated Kingaroy resident?

Then, officer in charge of Kingaroy Police Station Senior Sergeant David Tierney has been looking for you.

He hopes to establish a committee for a new Kingaroy Neighbourhood Watch group.

Sgt Tierney will host a meeting at the Kingaroy Police Station on Wednesday, August 14 at 6pm for those who are interested.

Sgt Tierney said the group would hold less formal meetings, with the focus primarily being online.

"The meeting is not about recruiting members but to identify suitable people to form a committee,” he said.

"The committee will establish and run the group. Specifically we are on the lookout for online co-ordinators.

"We're not going to do the traditional every three months formal meetings. Instead we plan to have a Facebook page. This way the community can stay up to date with safety matters in a more timely manner.”

Sgt Tierney said the group would not be for lost pets, but instead for police matters regarding safety.

If you are interested then Snr Sgt Tierney said you should visit the Neighbourhood Watch site as well as read the Neighbourhood Watch Guide, specifically Section 8.2 How to start an online group.

If you are interested in attending contact Snr Sgt Tierney on 41604900.
