Keep your Christmas dollars in town
CHRISTMAS time is fast approaching which for many families means lots of dollars spent on gifts and catching up with loved ones.
During the festive season, Burnett organisation, BIEDO is encouraging residents to support our local economy at the same time.
BIEDO CEO, Kristy Frahm said research shows for every dollar spent at a local small business, 42 cents flows back into the local community.
This is known as the Boomerang Dollar effect.
"Based on findings such as the Boomerang Dollar, keeping our spending local is a win-win for both business and community,” Ms Frahm said.
BIEDO has created an online campaign, titled Burnett Inland Christmas to make sure as many Burnett dollars stay in the region.
"This festive season, you can join us by taking the Burnett Inland Christmas pledge and helping to promote all that businesses in our region have to offer, ” Ms Frahm said.
"By taking the pledge, we're consciously supporting local businesses when deciding what's going under the tree, where to hold Christmas functions, source goodies for Christmas meals and places to visit and stay over the holidays.”
There are plenty of ways that shoppers can get on board with the Burnett Inland Christmas campaign, it's as easy as - SNAP, SHARE, TAG!
Snap a photo of your Christmas purchases, share details of what your business or organisation has to offer in the lead up to Christmas, or Tag #BurnettInlandChristmas on your social media posts.
