Kids get crafty these school holidays
CRAFTING at the Kingaroy Library has become a regular school holiday activity for Kathy Sanderson and the kids in her care and this year is no different.
Kids of all ages took on the challenge of making a dragon this week at libraries across the South Burnett.
"It encourages children to create on their own rather than sitting on computers,” she said.
"It is keeping their fingers messy and learning about textures and shapes. It is very important for children, and in school holidays learning needs to go on.”
Ms Sanderson said the children could be proud of their efforts and use their artwork to decorate their rooms.
The Kingaroy Library hosted two craft sessions on Thursday and Christie Thomas from the library said 30 kids made a dragon across the two time slots.
"We are always happy when we get a good turnout because it means word is getting out that we do this sort of thing,” she said.
"This is a place where they can make as much mess as they like and mum doesn't have to clean it.”
Activities will continue at South Burnett libraries for the remainder of the school holidays.
