Kingaroy boxer needs your support for national fight
KINGAROY'S Stanley Green is determined to be one of the world's biggest names in boxing and he is on his way to making that a reality.
At 17, Green is a Sunstate Boxing League Queensland champion and now has his sights set on finishing on top at the national championships to be held in Tasmania from November 28 to December 1.
But to get there, Green is calling on the community for help.
Green trains at Ma Fu Wing Fight Club and its manager, Tash Raven, has set up a GoFundMe account to help the young boxer achieve his dream.
The fundraising goal of $3300 will cover the cost of flights, accommodation and food for Green and his support crew.
Green trains three times a day and Raven couldn't speak highly enough of his commitment.
"His focus is second to none,” she said.
"He is absolutely dedicated and focused and he has his eyes on the prize and that is it.”
But it is Green's actions out of the ring, helping younger members of the new club improve, that Raven admires most.
"He trains like a professional and he still remains really humble,” she said.
