Knee pain sufferers called on for new study

MACKAY residents are being called on to assist in a study breaking down treatments for knee osteoarthritis.

The research, conducted by the University of Melbourne’s Centre for Health, Exercise and Sports Medicine, will compare two different ways of delivering physiotherapy for people with the condition.

Patients will received five consultations with a physiotherapist over a three-month period. an individualised strengthening exercise program, an activity monitor and educational and exercise resources.

Case studies must be over 45, have had knee pain for more than three months and not currently be undergoing exercise treatment.
