Ladies do lunch to celebrate International Rural Women's Day

THREE impressive young women from the region will be speaking at the upcoming International Rural Women's Day lunch, where a new scholarship for a South Burnett girl will also be announced.

The luncheon at Hidden Gold Homestead will showcase three South Burnett women, all with inspiring stories and different perspectives.

Kate Perrett is just 17 years of age and is this year's Nanango State High School school captain.

Kayleen Freeman, Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women's Network youth program facilitator and Nanango teacher, said Ms Perrett was also the recipient of a QRRRWN award.

"The young woman Kate Perrett who won the Young Women with a Vision award is going to be a speaker along with two other under-25-year-olds who live and work in rural Queensland,” she said.

"All three young women are being or were educated in the South Burnett.

"To promote International Rural Women's Day we are hosting a luncheon to showcase these young women and why they love being a young rural woman in 2019.”

The other girls presenting at the lunch will be Olivia Frahm and Mikaela Greenslade.

Ms Frahm is 19 and graduated from St Mary's in Kingaroy.

She works as a ringer and station hand at Eidsvold and has big plans to study Agriculture Business next year.
