Love bacon? This is the position for you

WHEN Kylie van Schyndel saw Kingaroy's Glendon St filled with people enjoying the town's inaugural BaconFest last year, it filled her with pride because all the hard work had been worth it.

"To walk in and see people had turned up and were there and enjoying it - everyone came together. It was special and something to be proud of,” she said.

This is the reason she wants to get more of the community involved by recruiting volunteers to help visitors to the region have the best time possible.

Ms van Schyndel is calling on community-minded and bacon-loving residents to offer a few hours of their day to help at the festival on August 23-25.

Volunteers have the chance to nominate to volunteer in an area they are passionate about, whether it be a meat lover helping at the Smoke-Off competition, or having fun with the kids at little piggies events,” she said.

"We think people get the most out of volunteering for things they are passionate about.”

People who are interested in volunteering can learn more about what it involves at the volunteer induction at the Kingaroy Hotel on August 14 at 6pm.
