A British university graduate has been jailed for murdering a doctor and Instagram influencer in a frenzied knife attack after she mocked his sexual performance.
Maxim Gareyev, 33, left the body of Russian beauty blogger Ekaterina Semochkina, 24, in a suitcase in her apartment, naked except for a suspender belt, The Sun reports.
The IT specialist will serve nine years in a Russian penal colony for the murder.
Gareyev, who has four degrees including an Open University MBA, claimed he killed Ekaterina, known as Katya after she taunted him.
The social media influencer, who had 85,000 Instagram followers, mocked him for not being as wealthy as her other male friends, having a "lack of personality" and his failure to satisfy her in bed, he alleged.
He told the Russian Investigative Committee after they had sex "she carried on making jokes about me".
The killer, who claimed his victim charged £130 ($A250) an hour for sex to supplement her earnings, told detectives he "lost control".
"I grabbed a knife in the kitchen. She half turned and I struck her in the neck," he said.
"She tried to escape to the bathroom and lock the door. I pulled her out of the bathroom."
"Her blood was dripping. Then in the corridor she started screaming.
"I covered her mouth. I stabbed her again, to her chest with a knife.
"She ran to the living room and started fighting me, but I was in a state that I didn't feel pain."
Gareyev said during the fight Ms Semochkina fell down and he struck her twice again in the neck.
"She had convulsions and died."
The victim's parents, who are also doctors, went to her flat when she failed to answer her phone and found her body.
"I saw my daughter lying in a suitcase," her mother Olga Semochkina said.
"The big red suitcase was in the middle of the room. I started to scream."
Ekaterina's father Stanislav Semochkin rushed to her side hoping she was still alive, but soon realised she was dead.
They strongly denied that she had worked as a prostitute and said her "jealous" university classmates had posted her pictures on escort sites.
Dr Semochkina posted a video of her daughter's grave, saying: "Here she is - our girl. Beautiful and clever … Now just to hug and kiss her, we come to this grave."
Gareyev said: "I want to apologise to Katya's parents. I regret a lot. I'm very ashamed of myself."
