Maryborough brothers make debut in hit reality TV show
MARYBOROUGH brothers Josh and Brandon Jarius feared they would be old men before they renovated a home they bought in 2014, but a dream gig on reality television has fast tracked the progress by years.
The brothers are stars on the latest season of House Rules, which premiered on Channel Seven on Monday night.
Brandon, 21, and Josh, 23, bought their Neptune St home four years ago for $175,000 and are the youngest team in the competition.
The carpenters have been busy filming across Australia in what they describe as an "intense" and "unreal" experience.
It has been almost a year of secrets, for the pair who were unable to tell anyone they were filming.
They disguised their prolonged disappearances by telling friends and family they were off "for work," which technically was the truth.
"What you see on TV is what it is," Brandon said.
"The whole seven day timeline to transform a house is not made up."
The Maryborough-bred siblings are handy with tools through their time as tradesmen, but said decorating was their challenge heading into the renovation show, claiming to not "have that sheila touch".
Thankfully Google was their saving grace for interior design inspiration as well as their ability to just "wing it".
The pre-promotion for the show has already portrayed the brothers as Aussie larrikins, which they said was accurate.
"We are best mates," Josh said.
"We have grown up in each other's pockets."
The home on Neptune St has been of public interest ever since television crews were spotted last year.
The brothers said did not mind prying eyes driving past and cannot wait to share their journey with the Fraser Coast public on a weekly basis.
