Mayor insists residents do their research before voting

SOUTH Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell says it is a positive sign that all councillors are putting up their hands to run again.

But regardless of who runs in 2020, he encouraged all South Burnett residents to make an informed choice on election day.

"There are positives in having the same team continue into the next term,” he said.

"The decision though on who represents the six divisions is a decision of the ratepayers of that division.

"It is not the decision of the mayor.

"My advice to ratepayers would be to get to know your current councillor and any others who may nominate and then decide on who will best represent them.”

While Cr Campbell has not officially announced his nomination for the 2020 mayoral candidacy, he was adamant he still had a job to do.

"When I nominated as mayor four years ago, it was my intention to make myself available for two terms i.e. ending 2024,” Cr Campbell said.

"I thoroughly enjoy contributing to the future development of the South Burnett and am very satisfied with what has been achieved during the past four years.”
