Mayor reveals Cr Glasgow’s previous indiscretions

NOOSA mayor Tony Wellington has revealed Cr Jess Glasgow has previously “been spoken to” regarding his conduct and manner in council.

Cr Wellington is among current and former politicians calling for Cr Glasgow to resign immediately after his actions on The Bachelorette this week.

Cr Glasgow was labelled a “vile misogynist” by Cr Wellington but is refusing to step down from his position.

It came after he was booted off the dating show.

Cr Glasgow has since apologised for his actions.

Speaking to media this morning, Cr Wellington said this incident was not the first time Cr Glasgow had been in strife but refused to comment further.

“I have spoken to Jess Glasgow as has the CEO on a number of occasions with regards to various instances but what we are talking about today is his reprehensible behaviour on the show,” Cr Wellington said when questioned about whether Cr Glasgow had previously been disciplined in council.

“I am not aware … I have not received personal complaints about Mr Glasgow’s treatment of women.”

In the same week as Cr Glasgow appeared on air, fellow councillor Ingrid Jackson announced she wouldn’t be running in the next election.

Cr Jackson cited “considerable pressure to conform”, and said that there’d been 10 official complaints made about her.

She is the sole woman represented in Noosa Council.

When questioned about whether Cr Jackson’s resignation had anything to do with Cr Glasgow, Cr Wellington said there two were not related.
