Mayor's ball to support the community
SOUTH Burnett residents are invited to dance along and support the Kingaroy Super IGA Mayor's Charity Ball.
Mayor Keith Campbell urged residents to buy a ticket for the event, which will be held on Saturday June 8.
The evening will commence with forecourt entertainment followed by a sit-down dinner inside the town hall, showcasing regional fine food.
After dinner, guests can enjoy a laugh with sell-out comedian Joel Ozborn and music by Franky Smart.
There will be a short fundraising auction and plenty of time for dancing and socialising.
"I am delighted to announce that Kingaroy Super IGA are the event sponsors for the 2019 Mayor's Charity Ball,” Cr Campbell said.
Kingaroy Super IGA retail store manager Trace O'Neill said the store had supported the ball since 2015.
"Kingaroy Super IGA is proud to be supporting an event that sees profits going back into its community and we encourage businesses and individuals to support this worthy cause,” he said.
Proceeds from the evening will go to the charity Red Earth Community Foundation, which has been supporting the South Burnett since 2013 with their projects.
One of their first projects was to coordinate and deliver funds raised through the 2013 Mayor's Red Earth South Burnett Flood Appeal.
They raised more than $90,000, which was distributed to property owners, businesses and community organisations to help them recover after the damaging floods.
"I encourage all South Burnett residents to build on their strengths, for their families and community, so we can all enjoy an even better South Burnett for many years to come,” Cr Campbell said.
Tickets are now on sale and can be booked through the Kingaroy council customer service centre on 4189 9100.
If you cannot attend the event, Cr Cambpell is happy to discuss other options to assist with the charity fundraiser. Contact him on 4189 9155.
