Meet Kingaroy's new pool manager
TERRY Dunn knows a thing or two about what it takes to run a pool.
She has 28 years' experience coaching swimmers from their first time in the water to racing for their place on the Olympics team.
This season Dunn will be on deck as the new manager at Kingaroy pool and is looking forward to to passing her knowledge on to aspiring swimmers.
"I love watching the kids improve, that is the biggest thrill,” she said.
"They are all different levels of champions from blowing bubbles to winning district medals.”
Dunn describes herself as a technique driven coach and is passionate about working with swimmers to achieve their personal goals.
At the start of the season Dunn will sit down with squad swimmers to understand what they want to achieve in the water.
"I don't care about speed every child is a champion and they need to be treated equally,” she said.
Dunn will be looking to employ staff from the local area to put in place the structures and programs that have worked for her in the past.
She will be looking to create a strong learn to swim program and pathway that allows kids to see their improvement in the water.
Dunn has been running her own business and working as an employing in Brisbane and is looking forward to life in the South Burnett.
"I love working in the country and country people it is a different and good way of life,” she said.
"I think the pool is a big part of a town and I want to create a happy environment and a place for kids to come and train.
"I am looking forward to the challenges that are ahead, I love a challenge and I will be looking to make it work.”
The Kingaroy pool will be open from Monday, October 1.
