Melissa McCarthy hasn't signed on to Ghostbusters reboot yet
THE director behind the highly anticipated Ghostbusters reboot has confirmed it will star a female cast of paranormal removalists.
Yesterday Paul Feig wrote on his Twitter account that the new franchise will star "hilarious women".
He also revealed he is working with The Heat writer Katie Dippold, sparking speculation The Heat and Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy could be amongst the prospective leads.
As well as directing McCarthy in the two films, Feig has also worked with the funny woman in the upcoming film Spy.
"The wonderful and talented Paul Feig is going to do the Ghostbusters movie and he has this great idea to do it with a female cast, but that's all I know," McCarthy told APN during an interview about her new film Tammy.
"Anything he does is great."
Would she consider signing on to the movie?
"I think I've proved how much I love working with Paul, but I'll let Paul make those (casting) decisions," she said.
McCarthy's Bridesmaids co-stars Kristen Wiig and Aussie Rose Byrne are also strong contenders to fill out the all-female team of ghost catchers.
