Mental health support group ready for launch

NANANGO'S new community-driven mental health support group launches tomorrow, Tuesday, August 6.

The new group is called Holding Space, and the first face-to-face meeting will run from noon to 1.30pm at Rapid Fitness in Nanango.

Group organiser Tracy Ahlquist said Holding Space would provide a place for people to talk, listen, establish friendships, and heal through unity.

"We are a group of Nanango residents with mental health who recognised that an opportunity to connect face-to-face for support and healing was needed in our community,” Ms Ahlquist said.

Holding Space has established protocols and guidelines for the meetings to create safety for members, and is supported by a number of qualified volunteers.

Ms Ahlquist plans to run the group every Tuesday from tomorrow, at the same time and location.
