Mercedes-AMG C63 S is loud and proud from $154,900

PERFORMANCE fans who love the three-pointed star, set aside $154,900. That is the retail price for the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Sedan, one of the most anticipated cars to hit Australia this year.

Powered by a rowdy 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, the compact sedan is able to rip from standstill to 100kmh in four seconds.

It will be available in both sedan and wagon guises, with the Estate's retail price $157,400, while details of the coupe are yet to be announced.

The price-tag is slightly lower than the Edition 507 Coupe C63 currently on sale, and while the engine has downsized from a thumping 6.2-litre V8, the new model gets a slight power boost but most notably an extra 90Nm of torque.

Despite producing 375kW of power, it sips on average just 8.6 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres - outstanding for a vehicle of these attributes.

And if initial reports are correct, the trademark V8 soundtrack has been retained courtesy of a performance exhaust system.

Among the standard equipment will be AMG 19-inch five twin-spoke alloys, nappa leather trim, Burmester stereo with 13 speakers, panoramic sunroof, sports seats and flat-bottom steering wheel.
