Poll claims Australians want an end to fuel subsidies
MORE Australians want an end to fossil fuel subsidies than any other measure as a way to improve the Federal Budget, a poll released yesterday shows.
The Federal Government subsidises fossil fuel production and use with $7.7 billion a year. A ReachTEL poll of 2664 Aussies found the majority wanted this spent on health and renewable energy sources.
WWF-Australia, the Australian Conservation Foundation, GetUp and 350.org commissioned the poll.
